In the silence of the cab, Johnny scratched his chin thoughtfully.

“Just so you know, Tali, if you don’t fuck him I’m gonna.”

They’d been taken in for, basically, looking kinda sorta suspicious. Shrouded into daylight wear hours before dawnbreak, looking insistently around while hissing among themselves, walking in aimless circles through the less reputable alleys of this dinky port-town; they made it too easy, and Dualscar was bored.

Also, the tall jade was hot, and he was in a mood for new entertainment.

“You know,” the
dwarf said, looking thoughtfully at the wreckage of the clearing,
“you’re not bad in a fight.”

“My thanks,” he
said wryly. He’d been cornered, and they both knew it.

She grinned at him.
She had a broad, open face, with a snub nose and smile-lines around
her wide, guileless eyes. She’d smiled during the fight, dimpling as
she gutted one of the soldiers from behind. “Cheer up, salroka,”
she said. “You didn’t do too bad for someone who got caught with his pants down. Besides, I’ve got a
proposition for you.”
